Influences: BBC One Dramas

Ripper Street

An obvious example of a BBC drama relating to our piece, Ripper Street is a BBC One drama set 6 months after the murders by Jack the Ripper. Ripper Street has elements of mise-en scene and attention to detail that we ourselves have applied to our trailer for Blind Mans Buff. The show was well recieved in it's first series and the interest in the show suggest that if we were to distribute the trailer, it would be well recieved by conteporary audiences.

Doctor Who

Whilst the show itself is more contemporary and is more science fiction in genre than steampunk, the concept of "the doctor" as a character was very influential in the creation of Detective Abbeline. Like the doctor, Abeeline is a unique character who's skills are unrivaled in the police force. However like the Doctor he is a rebel of his kind and is a loose canon making him difficult to work with yet the only one effective enough to catch Jack the Ripper. This archetype fits Abbeline perfectly.
